Our Day with Keegan!

Today we had the pleasure of watching our three year old nephew Keegan while his mom and dad went to first time home buyers class. He arrived a little before 9am and Matt and Mia picked him up at 5:00pm. We played outside, went to McDonald's for lunch and Keegan even made a trip with us to Lowe's before taking a good nap. Eric and I absolutely love Keegan and really enjoyed the day with him. From the below pictures I think he had a pretty good time too!...
I just love this picture of his muddy feet!

Playing with the hose and running through the sprinkler was Keegan's favorite part. But let the record show that taking off his dirty clothes was his idea! Also, I'm still not sure how his undies ended up backwards...

It's a boy!

On Wednesday morning the doctor's office called me regarding my ultrasound appointment that had been scheduled for today. The receptionist told me both doctor's would be in surgery on Friday afternoon so they needed to re-schedule my ultrasound for next week... I must have sounded really sad, because she quickly offered to put me on hold and see if they had any cancellations. They did, for that day! So I quickly called Eric and work and told him plans had changed and he needed to be in Kirkland by 11am.

Before the ultrasound started the Sonogram lady (not sure what her "official" title is...) asked if we were interested in knowing the gender, I said, "We sure are!" Seconds later she said, that looks like a boy to me.

This picture doesn't dot it justice (I guess that sounds a little gross, doesn't it?...) but between the two solid white lines, which are his Femur bones you can see the outline of his, ah hem, man parts.

Though much of the ultrasound was the technician looking at things like the placenta and then the baby's heart, lungs, liver, kiddney's and so on we got a few more pictures of more recognizable body parts such as the face:

Pretty creepy, I know. I guarantee you, he'll be cuter when he arrives :-)

We also got a cool shot of his left foot:

A letter to my baby

To the unknown,

Today you're on my mind a lot. Its a beautiful day here and I'm sitting at my desk looking out at the sunny world and thinking about how lucky I am to have you. Although we haven't "officially" met yet, I'm your mother. I can't tell you how strange it still feels to refer to myself as a mother... But you, my dear have given me this title, a title that I will carry for the rest of my life. No matter where I go, or what I do, I will forever be some one's mom. Though I don't yet know if you're a son or daughter (two weeks from today we find out) you are mine and I am yours.

To you I make the following vows:
-Your dad and I will raise you to know and love the Lord.
-I will never be too busy to read you a book, have a tea party, go on "adventures" in the back yard, etc.
-I will tell you daily (even when you're grown and have a family of your own) that I love you.
-You can count on me. I want our relationship to be one of respect and trust. No matter how good or bad the news might be I want me, your mother, to be the first one you call. I might not always be happy with you, but I will always love you.

I know that you and I are meant to be. You are part of God's great plan for my life and I am honored to be your mother.

Always,
Me

Cravings

So last night it hit me, my first true pregnancy craving! I was vacuuming and could not stop thinking about how good a root beer float would be. My fantasy went on for about 20 minutes before I looked at Eric and told him, "The baby and I want a root beer float!" He looked a little confused but quickly caught on to the fact that I was not joking around; at that point nothing mattered more to me than the satisfying mixture of ice cream and root beer. Quickly he got in his truck off to commandeer the tasty treat.

...10 minutes later I was literally waiting for him at the door. He had my sweet, sweet float in one hand and a peanut buster parfait in the other. I hurriedly went to the couch to watch the premiere of our summer time vice "America's Got Talent" and devour my goodie. Then disaster struck! The good people at Dairy Queen had let the root beer syrup run out in the pop machine. My treat was in fact no treat at all, but ice cream and brown-ish colored soda water! It tasted awful!!!!!!! Eric felt bad and volunteered to go back to the store and get a new one, but I told him it was OK. By this time my vigor had been crushed. I ate as much of the ice cream as I could and ended up throwing half of the disastrous "float" away.

Oh well, one thing I know for sure, its only a matter of time before a new craving hits me. Next time I hope the planets are aligned in my favor! :-)

30 more days...

Oh no my friends, not 30 more days of being pregnant (although some days I wish...) but 30 more days until our gender ultrasound! I am so excited and not so sure I'll make it... Although we've already seen baby Cox twice I am finding it really hard to emotionally "connect" with my growing bean without knowing what "it" is... Also, I'm a real planner and its killing me that I haven't started getting their room together or buying clothes yet. I have been tempted several times but Eric keeps me in check. But let me tell you folks something, come Friday, July 11th after 4:00pm NO ONE will be able to stop me from running to Babies R Us and shop, shop, shopin'!
